Development Cooperation in the Nordic and the Baltic Countries: NGO-to-NGO Training and Networking
On 27 - 28 October 2011, the Baltic-Nordic NGO capacity building programme was launched in Vilnius. The programme entitled "Development Cooperation in the Nordic and the Baltic Countries: NGO-to-NGO Training and Networking”, supported by the Nordic Council of Ministers Office in Lithuania and the Association of the Local Authorities in Lithuania, aims at strengthening Lithuanian, Latvian, Estonian, Danish, Finnish and Swedish NGOs working in the field of development cooperation. Today the 5th Rally of the United Students of Belarus will be launched in Vilnius
The fifth anniversary rally of the Belarusian youth studying abroad will be launched in Vilnius today. An informal youth community entitled "United Students of Belarus” (USB) meets in Lithuania every year to share their experiences, to discuss implemented activities and plan common future projects. This year the rally takes place in Dvarčėnai, a countryside resort in the Southwestern part of Lithuania.

Discussion with Simon Maxwell
On April 12, 2011, the Eastern Europe Studies Centre (EESC), in association with the Institute of International Relations and Political Science (Vilnius University), have hosted a roundtable debate with Simon Maxwell on the subject of "EU Development Co-operation Policy: New Challenges and Opportunities". The EU aid riddle: bilateral versus multilateral development assistance? Does (and should) the development co-operation policy of the new member states differ from the old member states? These were amongst the questions discussed.
