The first Vilnius Young Leaders Meeting was held in Vilnius

On September 25 - 29, 26 young professionals from the Baltic States, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, Russia and Ukraine attended the 1st Vilnius Young Leaders Meeting (VYLM). Participants were selected from a pool of over 300 applications were among main requirements were interest, experience and unique approach to solving disinformation and propaganda related problems in their respective countries and the broader region.

The aim of VYLM was to organize numerous formal and informal discussions based on current propaganda and disinformation tendencies, to exchange best practices on how to counter misleading information, fake news and to provide analytical case studies of different disinformation examples. The VYLM sought to gather a wide group of well accomplished and motivated young leaders who are always ready to share their experiences, gain new theoretical and practical analytical, and communication skills, and most importantly – approach propaganda and disinformation related problems. VYLM offered a platform for an exchange of know-how already obtained by selected participants and opportunity to further develop skills and knowledge via multiple meetings and discussions with leading media practitioners and analysts.

This meeting was implemented by the Eastern Europe Studies Centre (EESC) in co-operation with the International Elections Study Centre, online news portal DELFI and supported by the National Endowment for Democracy, Embassy of Sweden in Vilnius and the Swedish Institute.
