EESC analyst Dr Laurynas Kasčiūnas speech at the Inter-parliamentary Conference for the Common Foreign and Security Policy

On 6 September, Dr Laurynas Kasčiūnas, Head of Policy Analysis and Research Division, EESC, participated at the Inter-parliamentary Conference for the Common Foreign and Security Policy and the Common Security and Defence Policy held at the Lithuanian Parliament and delivered a speech on the Eastern Partnership and it’s Strategic Importance to the European Union.

During the speech, L. Kasčiūnas emphasised, that the Eastern Partnership countries cannot continue maneuvering between the EU and Russia, as an emerging alternative of the Eurasian Union forces them to choose one of the two integration spaces.

The session moderated by Audronius Ažubalis, Deputy Chair of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Lithuanian Seimas, was also attended by Sofia Arkelsten, Chair of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Swedish Riksdagen, Pat Breen, Chair of the Joint Committee on Foreign Affairs and Trade of the Irish Houses of the Oireachtas, and by the representative of the European External Action Service.
