Training for Journalists on Development Cooperation Issues

Jul 29, 2015 | 2015, Events, News

2015 is the European Year for Development. This is the year when we can share global poverty by busting success stories, also to understand how poverty in developing countries concern Lithuania, what are remaining challenges and how each of us can contribute to the development cooperation.

To expand journalists’ interest in development cooperation, EESC together with NGDO Platform offers training during which journalists will be introduced to the links between poverty in developing countries and Lithuania, will share ideas on how to present this emerging topic to the readers and will also touch upon ethical principles of development aid. The training will be led by Martin Atkin, former BBC journalist and program manager, who also served as communication manager at the Greenpeace, the Fair Trade Movement (Fairtrade). The training will be held in English on September 3-4 at EESC premises (D. Poškos 59, Vilnius). For participation please contact organizers at

The event is organized in the framework of the project ‘2015 European Year for Development: the Role of Media‘. The project is funded by the European Union and Development Cooperation and Democracy Promotion Programme of the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The goal of the Project is to raise the awareness and ability of Lithuanian journalists about the European Union’s development cooperation issues and their reflection in the media and social networks.
