L. Kojala has been appointed the director of the EESC for a second term

Linas Kojala has been appointed for a second five-year term as the director of the Eastern Europe Studies Centre.

The public competition commission received the work programme presented by L. Kojala positively and offered him to continue working. He was appointed to the position for the first time in 2016.

“I am glad that the commission recognised the breakthrough our team has accomplished over the past five years. We faced numerous challenges, but the Centre was able to successfully resolve them, grow stronger and is now prepared to raise the bar for quality even higher,” L. Kojala said.

The Centre has been set ambitious goals for the development of research programmes and contributing knowledge-based recommendations to decision-makers. Also, the aim of developing the existing team’s competences and integrating even more experienced analysts, who could take on the positions of associated expert, into the Centre’s activities was noted.
The Eastern Europe Studies Centre was established in 2006 by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania and Vilnius University.

This year, the Centre marks fifteen years of operation.
