Analysing international policy processes and Lithuania’s role in them

Annual Conference of the Eastern Europe Studies Centre

The Eastern Europe Studies Centre organises an annual conference on Lithuanian foreign policy. The conference features the launch of the Lithuanian Foreign Policy Review, written by top Lithuanian, European and US experts, former and current decision-makers.

Remembering our great past, believing in patriotism, and believing that international relations must be governed by wisdom, we Lithuanians believe in a happy future for Lithuania.

Why is the conference named after Stasys Lozoraitis?

During the Soviet occupation, the Chief of the Lithuanian Diplomatic Service was the highest de jure legal official of the Lithuanian state. In this capacity, Stasys Lozoraitis’ work encompassed two main areas: the restoration of Lithuanian statehood and the further protection of the rights and interests of Lithuania and its citizens.

The annual “Chief of Diplomacy” Stasys Lozoraitis conference on Lithuania’s foreign policy aims to bring together decision makers, academics, experts and public figures at a round table to develop visions for the country’s future foreign policy by examining the past.

Since 2015, the conference has grown from a local expert event to an international conference bringing together not only Lithuanian but also foreign experts, academics and decision-makers.

The event attracts more than 100 participants each year and receives wide media coverage. The conference is live streamed in Lithuanian and English, and in 2019, the conference was viewed by more than 20 000 unique users.

Remembering our great past, believing in patriotism, and believing that international relations must be governed by wisdom, we Lithuanians believe in a happy future for Lithuania.
