With the NATO summit in Washington approaching, on May 28th, the Eastern Europe Studies Centre organized an event during which we discussed issues related to this summit and other relevant topics about NATO with Lithuanian Ambassador to NATO Deividas Matulionis.
One of the main subjects was the relationship between NATO and Ukraine—the prospects of Ukraine being invited to join the alliance, the NATO training mission in Ukraine, and other related topics were discussed at the upcoming meeting.
Additionally, in the context of NATO, we discussed various threats regarding Russian provocations, the importance of the Indo-Pacific region and its involvement in various NATO projects. The cooperation between NATO and the EU was also highlighted, as well as the contributions of the newest members of the alliance—Sweden and Finland.
