On June 19, the Eastern Europe Studies Centre, together with the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Lithuania and the Institute of International Relations and Political Science of Vilnius University, organized the third Lithuanian-Dutch Foreign Policy and Security Conference. The event aimed to strengthen bilateral relations between the two states, deepen the understanding of regional security among analysts and decision-makers, and disseminate information about the foreign and security policy of the Netherlands. Among the participants of the discussion were Lithuanian and Dutch experts and policymakers.
At this year’s conference, significant attention was paid to discussing the historical, intellectual links between Lithuania and the Netherlands, as well as the dynamics of cooperation between the countries in today’s context of international politics and security. The participants discussed the similarities and differences in the assessment of geopolitical threats in Lithuania and the Netherlands, directions in which it is possible to jointly strengthen support for Ukraine, and cooperation in the field of security. The issues of defense spending, the resistance of democratic societies to disinformation, and realistic expectations for the upcoming NATO summit in Washington were also discussed.
