On April 11, Chief of Defence of Lithuania, Gen. Valdemaras Rupšys, visited the EESC for a discussion on a wide range of security and defence aspects.
One of the main topics of the discussion was the deployment of German troops in Lithuania. We talked about the preparation and development of the military, social, and other infrastructure necessary to host the brigade. We also discussed the areas where German and Lithuanian actions could be more synchronized and the role of Germany in the wider military context.
During the conversation, the topics also included the significance of NATO’s collective defence, its evaluation in different periods, defence spending, and remaining future challenges.
